Mysterious Japanese Babies

I was looking through some old files on my server last night, trying to organize the behind-the-scenes clutter explosion that is the backbone of planetdan, and I found this mysterious collage of japanese baby photos. I have no idea where it came from or how it got on my server, but they sure are damned cute.

This one in particular makes me laugh:

Their blinding cuteness has made me temporarily ignore the genuinely creepy fact that this file materialized out of thin air. Maybe it's like that movie The Ring, only with cute baby pics instead of a nine inch nails video. I'll be dead in seven days. I just don't know it yet. Go ahead, look at all of them, if you dare.

Actually, they're Korean. :)

Or they COULD be Japanese babies, but the writing is Korean.

Thought that might clarify things a bit.

Oh, that cute little bumble bee baby looks like he is about to vomit in the bucket.

Whoopsie, but I swear I wasn't being racist. The mysterious file was actually titled japanesebabies.jpg. I just figured whoever put it on my server knew what they were talking about.

I kissed you in the water
And made your dry lips sing
I saw you look
Like a Japanese baby
In an instant I remembered everything...

I get the poor attempt at emulating Anne Geddes, but I don't understand the cotton balls around the poor vomiting bumble bee baby. Those were cute pics tho. Except the last one on the collage that should be put with the "children who look like creepy dolls" from a few posts back.

I have to have an Asian baby right now. No wait, not one, I must collect them all. They are all SO CUTE!!!! Where am I going to put them all?

oh my goodness. I think I'm going to die from the cuteness!

Nothing like a nauseous bumble-bee to brighten up my day. Is it just me, or were there a lot of "dog scares child" pictures in there? heh.

Did someone just quote The Cure? I have a brand new best friend.

why the damn hell do asian babies have to be so cute?

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 1:15 AM

OMG. My parents totally have a pic of me that looks just like the kid with headphones! Only, I'm Anglo. And I had red hair. And I was wearing a dress. But: headphones.

Love the irresponsible parents force-feeding their child Korean Pepsi, and playing Spoons on their new-born's forehead.

That happy child (above the scared one with the dog) is the most adorable thing I've ever seen.

Can anyone give us a trasnlation of the Korean? (if it's worth it)

I am officially blind from cuteness. Blind.

That WAS a Cure quote in there, wasn't it. I was instantly transported back to the 8th grade.

I think Baby Bee is falling asleep - not puking. Many are the times I've watched little ones struggle to keep their eyes open just.one.more.second.

I had too many favorites - so I won't list them - but the little girl with the noodles - omigosh.

I was an Asian baby.

I was sooooo not cute.

Guess I'm an exception to the rule.

I don't even like kids and I totally love that littel girl with the noodles.

quick guide to distinguishing the main "oriental" systems of writing (it applies most of the time, not always):

korean: has a lot of "o" shapes

japanese: has a lot of slashes (i usually think of samurai sword slashes)

chinese: has a lot of box shapes

thai: has a lot of curly ends

tagalog: not to knock the filipinos, but their old system of writing used primitive-looking characters that looked like they were drawn by a child or caveman

the funny thing is, this is how koreans really do dress their babies and their pet dogs (like little costumed "accessories"). i should know--i've been living in seoul for the past year.

This little guy looks like he went out and had a few too many alcoholic beverages last night. "Now how the hell did I end up in this bee costume?....."

This little guy looks like he had too much to drink last night. "Now how the hell did I end up in this bee costume?....."

Opps.

By Anonymous Kate, at 10:56 AM

That is funny because just yesterday I found a photo on my hard drive with the file name "rough day." I was an image of tow hugely fat men n tie-dye t-shirts sitting under hair dryers. And the hair dryer hoods went all the way over their eyes. No clue where it came from.

But I like the babies better.
