The Not-So-Funny McSweeney's Test

I actually don't think this recent McSweeney's post is funny. In fact, only one of them made me laugh. So I thought I would post it, obviously not as a tribute to its worthiness, but more as a test for anyone who thinks they might understand my sense of humor enough to know which one I thought was funny. If you want to, leave your guess as a comment. So here goes:

Lesser-Known Movie Prequels
by Sarah Garb

Ocean's Three
Borderline-Inappropriate Dancing
There Are Plenty of Mohicans
Charlie and the Limited-Production Chocolate Startup
Thursday the 12th
Four Bachelorette Parties and a Friend in the Hospital
Babette's Snack
Joseph and the Nondescript Monochrome Sportcoat
My Brunch With Andre
Triassic Park
The Upwardly Mobile Tenenbaums

Can I have three guesses?

Borderline-Inappropriate Dancing
There Are Plenty of Mohicans
Thursday the 12th

Babette's Snack.

Four Bachelorette Parties and a Friend in the Hospital for sure

It has to be "Charlie and the Limited-Production Chocolate Startup." Remember when he dressed up as an Oompa-Loompa for Halloween?

By Blogger civilwar, at 7:27 AM

Hmmm, the oompa loompa related one is probably a good guess.

I'm going with Joseph and the Nondescript Monochrome Sportcoat.

My fave was Borderline- inappropriate Dancing.

Ooh, Dan, I have never posted, even though you know I love you.

Borderline Inappropriate Dancing.

It has to be.

By Anonymous Anna, at 8:07 AM

Hmmm. . . . .I found several of them funny, so now I don't know.

By Blogger elsimom, at 8:19 AM

I giggled slightly at Four Bachelorette Parties and a Friend in the Hospital so that's my guess.

By Blogger lynne, at 8:19 AM

I'm equally divided between "There are Plenty of Mohicans" and "Thursday the 12th".

By Blogger Kristina, at 8:20 AM

my guess: Babette's Snack

By Blogger Honey Bunny, at 8:29 AM

Definitely "There's Plenty of Mohicans".

By Blogger Will, at 8:30 AM

Okay, this is my first post...so I'm REALLY nervous. I do hope I get this right. Isn't there a prize or something? A homemade T-shirt? A framed, autographed photo?
Am I putting too much importance into my first posting?

Here goes...while the educated guess would be "Charlie and the Limited-Production Chocolate Startup", I have to go with my gut, which shook a bit as I laughed at my guess..."There Are Plenty of Mohicans".

Come on, come on, Daddy needs a new pair of shoes!

By Anonymous JCStar, at 9:04 AM

I can't even type it without smirking: There are Plenty of Mohicans. Man, that is funny.

By Blogger Angela, at 9:18 AM

has to be
"There Are Plenty of Mohicans"

By Anonymous brosky, at 9:47 AM

I'm going to take My Brunch with Andre because I don't think anyone else has.

By Blogger stapler, at 10:18 AM

It has to be there's plenty of Mohicans...

I like it...And we are both super funny...

By Blogger Stacy, at 10:23 AM

I'm going with Babette's Snack, just because of the GG character of the same name. Though I have to confess to not actually get it...

I agree on the overall article, some were funny-ish but not down to par. (I always say down to par because up to par makes no sense..)

By Blogger imp (Iva-Marie Palmer), at 11:08 AM

The one that made me laugh:

There Are Plenty of Mohicans

Runner-up:

Babette's Snack

By Blogger dan, at 1:18 PM

Joseph and the Nondescript Monochrome Sportcoat

By Anonymous Doll, at 1:55 PM

We've never met and I don't know you at all except for checking out planetdan for the last few months BUT I have what I think is a good guess:

There Are Plenty Of Mohicans

What do I win?

By Blogger Kirtina, at 2:07 PM

Aren't you glad we are friends?I know you like the very back of my hand...frontwards and backwards and off to the side...I know you so well there is no place to hide...

ummmm, just to clarify...this is an inside joke.If it wasin't it would be creepy...

By Blogger Stacy, at 2:18 PM

I'm sort of mad that I was wrong. Because the more I think about "Babette's Snack" the more I find it funny. What was she having? Was it toast? Gardetos, a handful of peanuts? Or maybe it was a small finger sandwich or something nutrious like a McDonald's Fruit & Walnut salad that her new boyfriend bought for her, but she ended up liking the salad better. It sounds way better than that stupid one you like.

By Blogger brent, at 2:41 PM

Four Bachelorette Parties and a Friend in the Hospital

By Anonymous patricia, at 3:04 PM

Plenty of Mohicans is pretty funny. And I just understood the Babette's Snack one and knowing what movie it's being joked as a prequel to makes that list item a weensy bit funnier. Still, I was a little upset it wasn't a GG reference.

There Are Plenty of Mohicans

By Anonymous J, at 4:41 PM

oh! i got it right! that was my favorite, too!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 7:46 PM

JCStar teaches you to always go with your gut.

By Blogger dan, at 9:37 PM

Dan,

We have the same sense of humor. I thought There Are Plenty of Mohicans before seeing that was the one you picked.

You are right though. This was not too funny.
