My Music Schedule

Thanks to a heads-up from a blog reader, I got tickets for The Scissor Sisters concert at the Quest in downtown Minneapolis in December. I am excited. Quest ain't the best venue, but at least it's not a sit down theater. I don't have the patience or the attention span for proper sit-down concerts anymore, which is sad because it means I will probably skip both Rufus Wainwright and Badly Drawn Boy at the Pentages theater this month. Especially since I'd have to go by myself since all y'all bitches have bad taste in music.

For anyone not in the know, The Quest used to be Glam Slam, owned by Prince and emblazened with his glyph logo in bronze on the dancefloor. It is now - and has pretty much always been - kinda dumpy, but B*Dubb and I saw Carmen Electra doing cartwheels in a pink bikini there about 10 years ago. She was handing out signed copies of her Go-Go Dancer rap single. That girl is like three feet tall and vacant like a bag of rocks, but she was one degree away from meeting Prince, which ten years ago really meant something to me.

Remind me again why Carmen Electra is even famous? Aside from the sham marriage to the hideous Dennis Rodman.

It's definitely not because of her musical talent. I think it was her stint on Baywatch.

Aren't you excited that I get to see the Scissor Sisters?

Yep. Can hardly contain myself.

For the record I like both Rufus & Badly Drawn Boy. But now I wouldn't go with you even if you begged. The only way now would be if you paid. I guess I could accept your apology if you included a free ticket.

Don't forget about Beth Hart mooning us, and being 10 feet from Dido before her songs were played incessantly, and seeing Jude (who BTW is not obscure). The Quest has held some good times for us, my friend.

I'm a new reader of your blog and I was so excited to see that you too are a Scissor Sisters fan. The CD is on a constant loop in my car (even my 3 yr-old knows half the words to "Take Your Mama"), though I'm beginning to suspect that it's starting to drive my husband off the deep end. They are coming to our area in December and I can't find anyone (my husband included) to go with me. What's a girl to do!?!?! Thank you for sharing your life and observations with us, I totally enjoy your sense of humor and look forward to visiting you as often as I'm able.

One song...I like one song!
Why would I open myself up to this.
All for the sake of a semi interesting BLOG post.

Ooh, I remember Glam Slam! I looked all over the place for Prince but no dice. At least I can say I was there once. It was kinda stupid, but makes us seem so retro somehow.

I'd go to Rufus with you, because I have excellent taste in music, thank you. You don't know me, though, and I don't live in the Twin Cities--yet--so that makes things a little tough. ;)

I originally found your blog because someone at work sent me your slideshow of senior photos found around the 'net. We got a good laugh out of that!
